74 ° International Exhibition of Cinematographic Art
This year too is getting closer, the highly anticipated event that will bring to the quiet island of Lido di Venezia the Best world cinema currently available: Great titles, international stars, unforgettable classics but also electrifying innovations such as online platforms that produce films not intended for the big screen (in a word Netflix) and the Virtual Reality which has a dedicated competition that saw nothing less than 109 nominations of which 22 will compete in an unprecedented competition.
All this and much more promises the director of the 74 ° International Exhibition of cinematographic Art Alberto Barbera who, in his foresight, tried to conjugate the old and the new in what is proposed as one of the most innovative editions ever.
It can’t be missing the traditional red carpet for the of parade international stars such as of George Clooney and Julianne Moore, Jennifer Lawrence, Sienna Miller and Matt Damon, Ethan Hawke and Alec Baldwin. You can pay tribute to the story of Jane Fonda and Robert Redford, and the great women of the big cinema, Judy Dench, Helen Mirren, Charlotte Rampling.
21 are the films in the competition of which 6 are Americans, 4 French and 4 Italians. Movies not in competition promises just as well, being able to boast names such as Stephen Frears, John Landis and Lucrecia Martel and actors such as Jim Carrey, Penelope Cruz and Michael Caine.
The documentary, a film form consecrated in Venice, has a section to itself, the "Non Fiction" in the competition.
Given to the success of the past edition it will be reproposed the Cinema in Giardino and a new square, with a clean and minimal cinema palace.
We just have to wait with impatience on August 30th for the opening of the exhibition, which is foreseen the participation of the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella, to discover the new trends of world cinema.
