The Serene Prince. History and stories of the Doges and Dogaress
Set in the prestigious rooms of the Doge's apartment in Palazzo Ducale, the exhibition "THE SERENE PRINCE. HISTORY AND STORIES OF THE DOGES AND DOGARESS " This is a comprehensive view about the historical evolution of the city of Venice, through paintings, sculptures, coins and various other items of artistic and historical interest.
In particular, the exhibition focuses on the figure of the Doge, the icon par excellence of Venice and its Republic: we find within the various halls a remarkable collection of paintings depicting the Doge, including works by prominent artists of those centuries as Jacobello del Fiore, Donato Veneziano, Vittore Carpaccio, and to close the gallery, Andrea Vicentino (with his famous portrait of Sebastiano Venier). Also interesting is the part dedicated to the Dogaress, with particular attention to Morosina Morosini Grimani figures (1595-1605) and Elizabeth Querini Valiero (1694-1700).
