Polaroid/Ready Made and Italo Calvino's American Lessons
From April 10 to July 27, 2025, the Stanze della Fotografia will host the exhibition Maurizio Galimberti between Polaroid/Ready Made and Italo Calvino's American Lessons, curated by Denis Curti, on the first floor.
Maurizio Galimberti, known internationally for his portraits of celebrities such as Lady Gaga, Robert De Niro, Johnny Depp and Umberto Eco, and for having created site-specific publications and exhibitions in New York, Paris, Milan, Rome and Venice, presents some of his most iconic Polaroid mosaics in Venice, including those of Johnny Depp, Barbara Bouchet and Angelica Huston.
The exhibition itinerary is divided into various thematic sections, including Cenacolo, Storia, Sport, Ritratti, Taylor Swift and Luoghi.
Galimberti's creations are characterized by a fragmented and multifaceted vision of reality, with images that are broken down and recomposed like a mosaic. This process offers a profound reflection on perception and the multiplicity of points of view.
Photographs are frequently manipulated during the development phase, through the application of pressure with simple tools, such as pens and wooden sticks, directly on the surface of the support. Furthermore, they are often mounted in mosaic compositions, where each individual shot contributes to the creation of a final result that returns a comprehensive and spectacular vision.
