VENICE CARNIVAL 2016
From 23 January to 09 February takes place in Venice the event that enchants thousands of people every year: the Carnival.
Streets and squares become, as always, a big stage: parades and competitions, concerts, theatre show and music, involve the entire city.
This year's theme is: "CREATUM — arts and traditions", a plunge into the origins of Venice and an overview of its traditions.
Centerpiece of the festivities, as always, Piazza San Marco, where in a fairytale setting, designed by the set designers of La Fenice, Venetian artisans of excellence, will bring their "workshops" in the square.
The Group of Felze will build up in just 11 days a gondola complete in all its parts; the workshops will prepare costumes of the ' 700; the maschereri will show how much work is needed to make a paper mask; the shoemakers of the Riviera del Brenta will make the shoes by hand; textile weavers, tailors and obviously the glass masters with their furnace.
From 4 to 9 February, moreover, in campo San Geremia, close to the train station, will set up the Pavilion "The tasty bunch" where regional excellence will be presented, both typical products and folk and handicrafts.
Every day, at the closing of the square at 16.30, will host a concert of the Phoenix or a representation of the Goldoni theatre. After-dinner festivities move to Arsenale, with international shows.
Ample space dedicated to children: for them fairy tales, puppet theatres, performances and workshops and Monday 8 the feast in Piazza San Marco will be dedicated entirely to them.
